The public relations office is mandated to establish and maintain good mutual relationships between the Lesotho Mounted Police Service and all its internal and external strategic stakeholders. This is a link between the organisation and members of the public. Administratively, it falls under the Assistant Commissioner of Police responsible for Operational Services

The establishment of the website for the Lesotho Mounted Police Service is another milestone as the organisation moves closer to the people in its endeavour to strengthen relationships with communities in which its success and failure depend. The organisation has proved in many ways its commitment in relationship building as that could help in the implementation of community policing initiative, which seems to be a modest way of policing especially in a democratic dispensation.

The acquisition of this technology will without doubt add value not only to the work that we do as PR practitioners but to the services offered by the entire organisation. In the past we have shown how committed we are in maintaining continuing two-way communication with people that we serve through phone-in programmes that we frequently engage in, with various local radio stations. We are not going to back-off from this practice as it is the only way to receive instant feed-back from our customers.

With the website up and running it will be our obligation to keep our customers well- informed about trends in criminal activities and all other activities that involve the organisation and to share with them some prevention techniques and tactics. Crime reports will be posted and members of the public will have opportunity to pose questions and seek clarifications on certain things but this should not be a barrier to regular visits to our various stations as one- on-one communication has proved to more effective.

Our customers are therefore urged not to misuse or to be misguided by the extended services offered by the organisation and thus abandon the traditional ways of requesting feed-backs concerning their cases.  As much as we acknowledge the new developments we also encourage our customers to continue with face presentations because as LMPS we believe more in face to face communication. We hope that we will use this instrument with care and benefit from it.

Long live LMPS long live
